Association of Physicians of Pakistani-descent of North America (APPNA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering scientific development and education in the field of medicine and to delivering better health care, irrespective of race, color, creed, or gender.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all members of this organization for honoring me as your newly elected President of APPNA-AZ. As I take over this responsibility, my heart is filled with humility, along with a great sense of commitment and responsibility, which should come with this position. As we embark our exciting journey in 2017, I hope everyone has a wonderful and prosperous New Year personally and professionally.
Over last many years since I have been a member of this organization, APPNA-AZ has been an active and important part of the Pakistani community in Arizona. It has successfully provided services like free clinics, philanthropic projects for local as well as national events, and also has strengthened ties with local political network. This has been the result of hard work by our members and leadership, which they have done remarkably well in spite of their very busy professional and personal commitments.
The level of professionalism and dedication shown by our past presidents has set the bar very high for this position. I hope I will be able to perform at your expectations. I know very well that this cannot be achieved working alone, and in this I am honored to be working with an amazing executive council team of Drs Ehtesham Shakoor, Zaheer Shah and Maqbool Halepota.
I honestly believe that there are amazing levels of potential in our Chapter to do great work in the coming years. My goal is to work with our amazing team and wonderful membership to take our Chapter to loftier goals. I am also grateful to my beautiful wife Tazeen who has supported me selflessly during my service to APPNA-AZ chapter so far, and continues to do so to this day.
There are many challenges that potentially face our Chapter in coming years. The couple I want to mention here are re-establishing a regular free clinic in Phoenix area; just as our members have been successfully done in Tucson area. Our predecessors have done a great job in laying a strong foundation for this project here, and my goal will be to work hard to sustain this amazing philanthropic work and help the project to flourish. My other goal is to increase our number of lifetime members in our Chapter, we all know our community is growing rapidly and our challenge has been and will be to reach out to each and everyone and encourage them to join our Chapter in its amazing journey.
I wish all of you a very happy prosperous year.
